QUATRO HELPS WIN PLANNING PERMISSION FOR THE RESTORATION OF HEATH HOUSE

Quatro organized the public consultation and liaison with local groups which led to Camden Council granting planning permission to the Heath House Property Partnership for the restoration of the Grade II* listed Heath House, and the replacement of the existing early 1980s staff accommodation with a new house, designed by Robert Adam Architects.

As part of the open and transparent dialogue with local residents, local groups and elected representatives, prior to submitting a planning application for proposals at Heath House, Quatro organised a public consultation programme comprising a presentation to leading members of the Heath and Hampstead Society, the Hampstead Conservation Area Advisory Committee and the Highgate Society, together with a Public Exhibition in Heath House.

To publicise the exhibition, over 1,200 letters were sent to households in the surrounding area and a press release was issued to the local press.  Approximately 250 visitors attended the exhibition.  Questionnaires were available for residents to complete and 72 forms were completed at the exhibition.  In addition, a website was created to display the exhibition boards and to give residents a further opportunity to make their views known.

The key results of the public consultation were that 90% were in favour of the restoration of Heath House.  There were no responses opposed to the restoration of Heath House.  In addition, letters of support were received from the owner of Jack Straw’s Castle and the nearby Summit Lodge and Bellmoor Residents Associations, as well as from English Heritage.

Camden Council’s Development Control Committee granted planning permission on 28th August 2008.
