The g, Galway

The g, Galway

Our Brief

Developing a launch strategy for the g, a five star hotel in Galway with interiors designed by Philip Treacy. The hotel opened in November 2005.

Tactics:

  • Liaising with Philip Treacy and the design team throughout the construction and fit-out period.
  • Building expectations and developing the positioning of the hotel through selected interviews and press releases, before the interiors were ‘unveiled’.
  • Negotiating exclusive coverage with a leading UK publication (The Sunday Times Style Magazine) in advance of the hotel’s opening.
  • Coordinating all photography.
  • London launch of the hotel at an exclusive celebrity party at a prestigious venue.
  • Arranging all pre-opening press trips including a 3-day press trip to Connemara with Travel + Leisure (USA).
  • Maintaining and managing significant international press interest in the hotel after the launch, incl. fashion shoots.
  • Press trips with UK press to promote the g and Galway as a short-break destination.

Results:

  • Extensive press coverage in the UK including articles in every UK National paper and leading consumer titles such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Tatler, as well as in international publications such as Travel + Leisure (USA), The New York Times , CNN and many other leading titles across the globe.
  • The estimated Advertising Value Equivalent (AVE) of press coverage for the g hotel is over £6million – with an estimated audience reach of approximately 35 million people.
  • The g hotel has been established as a design icon and, in April 2006, was included as one of Conde Nast Traveller’s Top 60 Hotels in the World.
