Our Brief:

Quatro was asked to create a programme of public consultation on behalf of the Wood Wharf Partnership on its proposals for a seven-hectare, mixed-use development adjacent to Canary Wharf, as part of their ongoing commitment to develop the site and engage with the local community. The Wood Wharf redevelopment masterplan will be one of the largest single outline planning applications ever submitted in London.

Activity:

36,000 newsletters were circulated inviting local residents, business and community organisations to share their views. The four-week public consultation programme involved a variety of events, including:

  • An initial opening community forum;
  • A two-week long public exhibition from 7am to 7pm;
  • Two weeks of consultation workshops;
  • A brand new website;
  • Three innovative and state-of-the-art models and audio aids.

In over 300 hours of consultation, more than 5,000 visitors had their say in the emerging plans.

Outcome:

On 9th October 2008, Tower Hamlets Strategic Development Committee voted unanimously to grant planning consent.
