Forest Gate Regeneration Plans Submitted to Newham Council

Obsidian has submitted a planning application to Newham Council for its regeneration proposals for Forest Gate Town Centre.

The proposals include new shops along Woodgrange Road, 800 new homes in a range of sizes for families and single people, new community facilities, a new Methodist Hall, improved streets and spaces to reflect the area’s Victorian character, with wider pavements and new crossings, new public open space and a community square, new and refurbished light industrial premises to provide new jobs,

The application follows public consultation organised by Quatro which showed that 80% of local people want to see Forest Gate regenerated. Obsidian has engaged ADAM Architecture, with a strong track record in classical and traditional architecture and design, to design the replacement building for Westbury Parade, as they say they want to respect the Victorian character of the area. The tall building in the scheme has been designed by Ian Simpson Architects, while the Forest Gate Masterplan has been designed by Buckley Gray Yeoman.
