AYLESBURY ESTATE AAP APPROVED
The Secretary of State has approved the £2.4bn regeneration of the Aylesbury estate in south east London, following two years of extensive consultation with residents, supported by Quatro.
Councillor Paul Noblet, executive member for regeneration said: “We’ve worked really hard to meet the Architecture Appraisal Panel (AAP)’s demanding rules to get to this stage, helped no end by excellent relationships with Aylesbury residents.”
Jean Bartlett, chair of the Aylesbury Tenants & Residents Association (TRA) said: “I think that the effort the council and the Aylesbury New Deal for Communities team put into showing the Plan to local people was excellent and the majority of events were well attended – we were often run off our feet.
“We also know our views were taken into account because the council actually revised the preferred options for the AAP. For example, we said we wanted to see more family homes on the estate and they changed the Plan to reflect this.”
The AAP will be formally adopted by Southwark Council in January 2010.
